Pure Advance+ Electric Scooter: A Review

When it comes to commuting in urban areas, Pure electric scooters have become an increasingly popular choice.  In this review, we’ll take a closer look at one of the best commuter scooters available today, – the Pure Advance+, focusing on the innovative designs and features that set it apart, as well as some things about it that may not make it the best fit for you.

Before diving into the details, it’s important to note the varying legal landscapes for electric scooters around the world. While countries like the UK have restrictive and outdated laws regarding e-scooters (which we hope will change soon), other parts of the globe embrace these devices as a solution to traffic congestion and air pollution. Despite these differences, the demand for efficient and reliable commuter scooters continues to grow and with government-funded rental scooters running trials in the UK there may be a change in the laws soon.

The Pure Advance+ Electric Scooter

Along with the Pure Advance Flex, the Pure Advance+ is the latest offering from the UK based electric scooter company. Pure have become known for their innovative designs and this forward facing scooter is no exception, allowing the rider to have their feet pointing forward instead of to the side. This means a much more comfortable ride, meaning you don’t have to twist your head and neck to see what’s in front of you, making the overall experience feel more natural because your body is facing the same direction your scooter is heading.

It’s easy to see why Pure have won awards for their innovation and design – the Reddot award 2023, as well Gold Winner for the Good Design Award.

Design and Features of the Pure Advance+

Some of the standout features include:

  • A powerful motor at 710W
  • A high degree of foldability – the scooter folds at the stem, deck, and handlebars, making it very compact and easy to store.
  • At 16.2 kg, it’s pretty lightweight and manageable for carrying.
  • Integrated steering stabilization ensures a smoother and more controlled ride.
  • The fold-out deck minimizes storage space while providing a stable, innovative feet-forward riding position.
  • Rear-wheel drive – with a maximum hill gradient of 19%, it can handle most urban terrains with ease.
  • Good Range and Battery – a 36V 9.5Ah battery allows up to 31 miles on a single charge, with a recharge time of approximately 7 hours and 15 minutes.
  • Regenerative braking – the rear brake recaptures kinetic energy, which extends the range of the scooter and conserves energy.
  • Enhanced security – using the Pure app, riders can digitally lock the scooter with your own personalised pin code.

Things to Consider Before Buying a Pure Advance+ Scooter

While there are plenty of things in its favour, have a look at some of the points worth considering as to why the scooter may not be the best fit for you:

  • Despite the undeniable quality of design, the Pure Advance Plus is somewhat pricey (£749 at the time of writing this review)
  • If speed is your thing, 15.5 mph (25 km/h) top speed is slower than some cheaper scooters e.g. the Aovo Pro Scooter. Always keep in mind that most countries have 15.5 mph as the speed limit on public roads
  • If you are used to riding a scooter with your feet pointing off to the side this set up may seem strange to you, and will take some time to adjust to the side by side pedals

Conclusion

Electric scooters like the Advance Plus are designed to be the future of urban commuting, and with that context in mind it’s hard to beat the Advance+.  There are so many features and the overall quality of the scooter is hard to argue with. If you are interested in a quality commuter scooter that has a better than average range and can keep you scootering for years to come this could well be for you.

If you want an off road or superfast scooter however you might need to look elsewhere.
