Can you use an Electric Scooter in the Rain?
We wouldn’t recommend using an electric scooter in the rain where possible because a scooter is never going to be 100% waterproof. You can use an electric scooter in light rain for a short while if it has a high IP rating (waterproof rating) but if the rain is heavy and you are going to be in it for a quite a while you run the risk of battery damage.
The battery may deplete or shut off altogether if it becomes exposed to too much water, meaning that you could face the possibility of being stranded.
Even scooters that do have a high IP rating are not completely waterproof and you also need to consider the fact that wet conditions can compromise your ability to brake, making an accident more likely.
If you are to be leaving your scooter outside in the rain for any period of time you will need to invest in an electric scooter cover to avoid water damage.
